This guy stands in the water and waits until the last sec to snap his camera shutter then takes a beating when the wave collapses over him…

Waimea Bay shore-break surfing pioneer, husband, and father of two, Clark Little has gained nationwide recognition for his photography on National Television.

It all started in 2007 when Clark ‘s wife wanted a nice piece of art to decorate a wall.

Voluntarily, Clark grabbed a camera, jumped in the water, and starting snapping away capturing the beauty and power of monstrous Hawaiian waves from the inside out.

” Clark ‘s view” is a unique view of the ocean that most will only be able to experience safely on land while studying one of Clark ‘s photos.

Now with a camera upgrade and an itch to get that better shot, Clark has taken this on full time and has moved his office from land, to the inside of a barrel.

Since the recent stir of Clark ‘s work, his images have been run on the Today Show, ABC World News Now, Nature’s Best Photography, Paris Match(France), La Vie ( France ), Hana Hou (Hawaiian Airlines) magazine, Surfer magazine, Surfer’s Journal as well as multiple publishers and newspapers in the U.S. and overseas.

These incredible images of waves in the Hawaiian Islands were taken by Clark Little, the number one photographer of surf.
He is dedicated to photographing the waves and has published a selection of his best..

This shot captures sand from the ocean’s floor being swept up by a monstrous wave and resembles a sandstorm.
Little calls it the Sand monster.

There were clouds of sand ten feet high and I’m standing there. I’m holding on to my camera and my trigger as long as I can.
Then I have to jump into the cloud of sand to try to get out of danger’s way.

Ninety-nine years ago, Duke Kahanamoku competed in his first Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden. He won the gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle swim and a silver medal with the relay team. He returned to the Olympics in 1920, 1924 and 1932, winning three gold and two silver medals.

But what did he do after the Olympics?

The head of Union Oil in Hawaii asked Duke whether he wanted a job. “I said heck yes, I’m not too proud to pump gas. I did it because it was something to do,” Kahanamoku said in 1965.

His service station career didn’t last long. Duke found his calling and ran for sheriff of the City and County of Honolulu in 1935.

He served 13 terms and then was appointed as the city’s official greeter and ambassador of good will after that.

His name was Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, and he was Hawaiian.
On June 26, 1997 Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwo’ole passed away.
Yet, IZ LIVES … in his expression of “Aloha”. “Pure Aloha” does not pass away. “Aloha” was the kuleana he made kapono! … the responsibility he made righteous! The responsibility of embracing and gifting others with “Aloha” … through the universal language of music. “Pure Aloha” is not bound by ethnic heritage or time. IZ ‘s popularity continues to grow as he gains new followers around the world daily.

PO‘IPU — Lunch can wait! Seeing two surfers struggling a few hundred yards off the coast of Prince Kuhio Beach, Kaua‘i resident Jesse Uemura abandoned the sandwich he was eating Wednesday afternoon and dove in after them…

Exhausted, the two visitors both thanked Uemura for his help.

“You saved our lives,” Ken Burgess recalled the men telling Uemura flatly after they were all safe and sound back on shore.

Surfer/ musician Mike Young was heartbroken because his vintage Takamine guitar was stolen from his truck …

Young’s prized possession was anonymously returned. ‘Aloha is there,’ he said. ‘My baby is back.’ The guitar had been previously owned by Peter Moon and the late Mike Joao. Also taken — and returned — were two custom surfboards. Young said no questions were asked, he was just happy to have his belongings back, especially his guitar, and thanked everyone who helped to recover them.

Kelly Slater gets "Key to the City" of Huntington Beach:

Kelly Slater will be honoured by the Huntington Beach, Surf City USA, on the 21st June 2011. The ten-time world surfing champion will be presented with “Key to the City”, in 101 Main Street.

Slater has conquered the U.S. Open of Surfing, held in Huntington Beach, in 1996, and has always been welcome in the Californian city, where he has a large fanbase.

The surf champion has already received the “Key to the City” of his local town, Cocoa Beach, Florida, and of San Clemente. Kelly Slater is now coming to Surf City Nights, a weekly street fair, to be honoured by the Surf City USA.

The Floridian surf legend will get honours from the hands of Mayor Joe Carchio. Slater was born on February 11th, 1972, and is the youngest (at age 20) and the oldest surfer (at age 38) to win an ASP World Tour title.

Also, Kelly became the first surfer ever to be awarded two perfect scores for a total 20 out of 20 points under the ASP two-wave scoring system. He is of Irish and Syrian ancestry.
